KATHMANDU, March 25: Urban Development Minister Ram Kumari Jhakri has said that a Singha Durbar Master Plan will be taken forward soon. Stating that the main administrative center of the country should not be kept in disarray for years, she said that the work would be started immediately after approving the Singha Durbar Master Plan.
Addressing a discussion program on Singha Durbar Master Plan organized at her ministry on Friday, Minister Jhakri said that the integrated development plan should be taken forward by constructing a utility corridor inside Singha Durbar.
Helipad to be constructed inside Singha Durbar
Stating that the master plan would be approved with the involvement of and in coordination with all bodies concerned, she said that the entry of the general public into the Singha Durbar should be made systematic in view of the security sensitivities.
Minister Jhakri said that a master plan would be prepared by forming a task force comprising Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Water Supply, Nepal Telecom and Nepal Electricity Authority to further strengthen the Singha Durbar Master Plan.
Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising said that the power lines could be laid underground immediately at Singha Durbar by coordinating with the officials concerned and an electric charging station would be set up on the premises of Singha Durbar.
