Change of calendars has always acted as an occasion for the introduction of new beauty trends. One begins and the others quickly follow. And it doesn’t take long for these trends to be adapted in a global scale. 2017 likewise brought about many creative ideas and makeup trends.

The bold and sometimes bizarre trends taught us that it was no longer about adhering to the limited sets of global trends but instead experimenting with what you have got for enhancing your perfect look. The Week lists some of the most highlighted beauty trends of 2017 that you might want to try out or be inspired from to create one of your own.

Clumpy lashes

Clumpy lashes were once supposed to be an effect of using expired or low quality mascara. However, lately it has become one of the major beauty trends. The best thing about this is that one does not need to be concerned about messing it up, as being a little messy and clumsy is what it’s all about. Also known as spidery lashes, it can be achieved just after horizontally swiping lashes from root to tip by thick mascaras. Use the tip of the brush to push the lashes together to form small clumps. Be careful not to smudge or make it look stubby by overdoing it though.

It’s no surprise that gradient lips is making its way throughout the world as one of the hottest trends of 2017. An alternative to full-colored lips, gradient lips has concentrated colors in the center and the colors are blended out at the edges. You don’t need anything specific for this except a lipstick of your choice. To get gradient lips, apply your lipstick at the center of your lips and use your fingers or a brush to smudge it out towards the edges. You can also use glossy lip balms for some extra shine after putting on the lipstick. If all this is too much work for you, there are special lipsticks that can make achieving gradient lips very easy.

Black lipstick

What initially started as a trend on the runway has quickly become quite a regular thing. Black lipstick is popular among the masses today, be it for an appealing daily look or for stunning party makeup. And for those with darker or bright skin, black lipsticks tends to go well with everything. Simply use brush and water to get rid of dead cells from the surface of your lips. Apply lip balm or moisturizer to avoid caking and flaking before you apply black lipstick. You can also go for lip liners for a perfect finish. The trick her is to achieve a smooth finish to make it look appealing.

Clean skin

Clean skin, a makeup trend where you supposedly apply very less or no makeup at all, was initiated to promote bare face. This trend helped many people appreciate their skin despite the flaws. But the year 2017 brought about many changes in this trend with the advent of nude makeup kits. These kits aimed to cover the parts of your face you wanted to hide like blemishes or dark circles while giving you a perfect no makeup look. You can also use light BB creams, concealers and lip glosses to achieve that perfect ‘Clean skin’ look.

Pearl Makeup

By the fall of 2017, highlighters and contours were gradually being replaced by small, circular pieces of pearls. In this trend, pearls are simply glued to the face and hair. You could see people with pearls on their cheekbones, above their brows and on their jawlines. If gluing pearls on your face does not appeal to you then you can consider using products made out of pearls that are quite the rage at the moment.

Wavy and feather brows

These styles are true to their names. Wavy brows are like water-waves whereas feather brows are designed to look like fluffy feathers of birds. For wavy brows, simply make use of brow pencil instead of shaping your eyebrows permanently. Outline a squiggly shape over your brows and fill in with an eyebrow pencil of the right shade. On the other hand, for feather brows, push your eyebrows upwards using a brow brush. Fill the gap with the help of an eyebrow pencil again. There are many YouTube tutorials that teach you how to perfect wavy and feather brows in minutes.

Light blonde hair with pink shades

If you are considering doing something new and different to your hair then this trend might be the perfect solution for you. Regardless of your hair type, you can easily copy and claim this trend. Hit a nearby salon to dye your hair a light blonde color. Leave the root area as it is and from halfway of your hair to the end, get pastel pink or peachy pink color. Here you can also opt for multi-colored highlights where you can use shiny and bright colors like golden, purple, or orange.
