KATHMANDU, March 13: Kantipur Cinemas has emerged as a promising platform for independent filmmakers to showcase their work. The OTT platform, known for streaming independent films such as 'Mother', 'Mukhiya', 'Ritu', 'Kharani', and 'Pakheta', has now added another independent film to its collection with the release of 'Nepali Fiction'.
The film portrays a comedic conflict between two thieves delivering drugs to a gangster's house and the ensuing chaos sparked by greed during the division of the loot. 'Nepali Fiction' premiered on February 14 at Bishwojyoti Cineplex in Kathmandu, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience.
'Mainali Fiction Honour' to Sagar
Directed by Devendra Khatri, a film student at Kantipur Film Academy, 'Nepali Fiction' was crafted in 2022. Khatri, who has previously directed several short films, also served as an assistant director for Nepali series 'Brahmanda', the theatrical film 'Agastya', and the upcoming film 'Mayor', currently in production.
The film features a talented cast including Sanjog Rasaili, Ruja Raut, Bimal Puri, Supragya Sharma, and Rupesh Dahal. Ashish Ghimire handled the cinematography, Sajal Lopchan took charge of editing, and Barsha Poudel served as the production designer for 'Nepali Fiction'.
