KATHMANDU, April 3: The 'Mainali Fiction Honour' has been conferred on fiction writer Bijaya Sagar. At the 37th fiction day organised by Nepal Academy and Literary Journalists Association on Tuesday, the award instituted in memory of noted fiction writer Guru Prasad Mainali was handed to literary writer Sagar.

On the occasion, literary figure Geeta Keshari lauded the contributions of fiction writer Sagar to the enrichment of Nepali language and literature from mofusil. "The fiction writing is gradually gaining ground as a popular gendre of Nepal". Prof Jagat Prasad Upadhyay, member-secretary of the Academy, said the fiction writing should be advanced in a way to attract more audience.
Bijaya Sagar is the literary name of Bijaya Govidna Shresths who was born in Bhairahawa in 2006 BS. In his five decade long literary journey, he has published several collections of fictions, informed literary figure Shreeom Shrestha Rodan. Feted personality Sagar said the honour would be an impetus to engage more in the journey of creative writings. RSS
