The fire was put off after commendable efforts demonstrated by firemen while fire engines were brought in from Hetauda, Bharatpur and Birgunj.[break]
The two storey house caught fire due to an electric short circuit around midnight.
The owner Kanhaiya Rathi was informed about the incident by the neighbors.
"Neighbors called me up, we were trying to douse the fire from Monday night but were unable to do so," Rathi said.
Along with the fire engines, police, armed police force and the locals made efforts to control the same.
The fire was brought under control around seven on Tuesday morning.
The adjoining buildings have also been damaged by the fire.
The loss incurred is yet to be determined.
