BHAKTAPUR, Jan 6: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel has said that action will be taken against the medical college operators if they charge the medical students more than the prescribed fee.
Minister Paudel along with Chief District Officer Rudra Devi Sharma visited the Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) in Bhaktapur today after receiving a complaint that the college had taken more than the fee fixed by the Medical Education Commission.

He said that the college operator will not be allowed to charge more as the fee has been fixed as per Section 18 of the National Medical Education Act, 2075 BS. During the meeting, Minister Paudel said to Ratindranath Shrestha, the principal of the college, "Prove at the dialogue table that exorbitant fees have not been charged, otherwise action will be taken as per the law."
Minister Paudel also directed to submit a report on the fees by tomorrow, said his press coordinator Bimal Khadka. "Sit down and talk with the students’ parents at the district administration office tomorrow at 10 AM," directed Minister Paudel.
CDO of Bhaktapur Rudra Devi Sharma, who reached KMC with Minister Paudel, has called the college administration for talks with the students and their parents at 10:30AM on Friday.
Students have been protesting and padlocking KMC since Wednesday in protest of the exorbitant fees. The Ministry of Education on Wednesday, had warned the colleges charging higher fees that legal action will be taken against them.
