NEPALGUNJ, Feb 20: A tiger attacked a man at Fatehpur, Banke on Sunday. This is one of the series of tiger attacks that have taken place over the past few months. Wakil Gaddi, 28, of Jagadiya village in Fatehpur of Raptisonari Rural Municipality Ward 7 was attacked by a tiger and he was able to survive the attack, according to Ward Chairperson Ram Lakhan Tharu.
According to Ward Chairman Tharu, the tiger attacked Gaddi in the Mandaphawa Community Forest area around 12 noon on Sunday while he was searching for grass and firewood.
Human-Tiger Coexistence Amidst Rising Tiger Population
Chief of the District Police Office, Banke, Superintendent of Police Shyam Krishna Adhikari said that a local youth was injured in the attack. "Despite being attacked by a tiger, he managed to survive. He is safe," the official said.
According to the local residents, the tiger knocked him down to the ground and attacked him in the neck. Later after his friends started making noise, the tiger ran away. There is a big puncture in Gaddi’s neck.
He was rescued by the locals after being injured in the tiger attack. He is undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj. After being taken to the hospital, he regained consciousness.
Dhan Bahadur Chalaune, 60, of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-6, was killed by a tiger on Saturday.
