Nepal-India border in Rautahat to remain closed for three days

BIRATNAGAR, May 17: The Nepal-India border in Rautahat district will remain closed for three days due to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in India.

BIRATNAGAR, May 17: The Nepal-India border in Rautahat district will remain closed for three days due to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in India.


According to the District Administration Office, Rautahat, the border will be sealed for 72 hours until polling day, as decided by a joint meeting of the security officials of the border areas of both countries.

Since the elections are held on separate dates in Sitamarhi and East Champaran districts of India, which share borders with Rautahat, the borders will be sealed on separate dates for the two election days. 


During the elections to be held in Sitamarhi district, the border will be closed from Rajdevi Municipality-9 Brahmapuri to Ishanath Municipality-1 Banjarha in Rautahat from 12 AM on May 18 to May 20. 


Similarly, Chief District Officer of Rautahat, Hira Lal Regmi, said that during the elections to be held in East Champaran district, the borders will be closed from 12 AM on May 23 to 12 AM on May 25.


Indian Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 20 in Sitamarhi district and on May 25 in East Champaran district.
