KATHMANDU, March 6: Newly appointed chairman of Minimum Wages Fixation Committee Rajendra Aryal has committed to implement the minimum wages to working journalists.
While assuming the office here today, chair Aryal said that the minimum wages would be assured to journalists and implemented in coordination with the government, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) and journalists. He also insisted on implementing the minimum wages even to match the market.

On the occasion, director general at Information and Broadcasting Department Lekhnath Sharma said that the government was always ready to assure professional security of journalists.
Similarly, FNJ President Govinda Acharya argued that the federationa was serious for professional and life security of journalists. He also opined to grant the rights to the committee for monitoring and taking action even by amending the Working Journalist Act.
Aryal was appointed to the post by the Cabinet decision on March 1.
