KATHMANDU, Sept 18: A citizens’ group has felicitated and honored director of Tilganga Eye Hospital and senior ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit and motivational speaker Sudhan Gyawali.
National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina congratulated them at the interaction and felicitation program organized by the group on 'Todays Vision, Prosperity with Self-respect'. Born in Olangchung Gola, a Nepali village which shares borders with China in the eastern hilly district of Taplejung, Dr Ruit was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2006. Known as the initiator of the world-renowned simple and low-cost cataract treatment method 'Ruitectomy', Dr Ruit has single-handedly performed over a hundred thousand cataract surgeries.

Similarly, Gyawali, who is working in the World Health Organization, has previously worked in the media such as Radio Nepal, Nepal Television for a long time. Recently, Gyawali, who is famous as a motivational speaker, has also conducted a program on positive thinking from the YouTube channel of ShikharNews.com, Shikhar News TV.
On the same occasion, the Chairman of the National Assembly Timilsina stressed the importance of giving opportunities to the youth generation in the upcoming federal and provincial elections to be held on November 20 for the economic and social development of the country.
He said that employment should be created within the country by using resources such as water, land, and herbs available within the country. Chairman Timilsina said, "Now in the next election, you should elect a leader who can bring good governance, has a long-term vision, is transparent, and can end corruption." Ruit encouraged those who work for the country and said that the young generation should be given a place for the development of the country. Gyawali, the motivational speaker, did 'storytelling' in the program. Chairman of the group Jairam Sigdel said that the group is also conducting a campaign against corruption.
