KATHMANDU, June 17: The Upendra Yadav-led faction of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has reached the Election Commission (EC) again on Friday to seek official recognition as the JSP.

This comes a day after the party’s central executive committee held in Lalitpur on Thursday made a decision to this effect. The Yadav-led faction has argued that they deserve to be recognized as the official JSP as they command the support of majority members in the party’s central executive committee.

The Yadav-led faction on Thursday decided to knock at the doors of the EC again after the election body earlier did not recognize the action taken against the rival faction leaders by both the Yadav-led faction and the Mahanta Thakur-led faction of the JSP. Party leaders said the decision to file an application again for official recognition was made as per the suggestions given by legal professionals.

The Yadav-led faction has alleged that the EC took a biased decision to favor the Thakur-led faction of the party. The Thakur-led faction has already joined the KP Oli-led cabinet.
