Urmila Aryal elected as Vice chairperson of National Assembly

Kathmandu, Feb 6: Urmila Aryal, Member of Parliament of the CPN (Maoist Center), has been  elected unopposed to the post of Vice chairperson of the National Assembly.

Kathmandu, Feb 6: Urmila Aryal, Member of Parliament of the CPN (Maoist Center), has been  elected unopposed to the post of Vice chairperson of the National Assembly. 


National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has announced in the meeting today that Aryal had been elected to the post  unopposed.

Earlier during the registration of candidacy on Sunday for the election to be held today, she was unopposed as only her candidacy was filed for the position of vice chair person..


Aryal registered her candidacy at the Lhotse Hall of Parliament House in New Baneshwar. Her name was proposed by Narayan Kaji Shrestha of the Maoist Center, Devendra Dahal of UML and independent lawmaker Khimlal Devkota.


Aryal, 66, whose permanent address is Birgunj Metropolitan City-23 Gandakchowk in Parsa, has been as a member of the National Assembly since February 2022. The post of Vice Chair fell vacant after the four-year tenure of Sashikala Dahal expired.
