Incidents of thefts rising as festive season approaches

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: With the beginning of the festive season, the incidents of theft have started to increase. According to the police, there have been increasing complaints of theft in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and other areas since the last few days. According to the Police Headquarters, the incidents of theft have started to increase mostly during the day time and also at night.

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: With the beginning of the festive season, the incidents of theft have started to increase. According to the police, there have been increasing complaints of theft in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and other areas since the last few days. According to the Police Headquarters, the incidents of theft have started to increase mostly during the day time and also at night.


Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Kuber Kadayat said that incidents of theft occurred at the residence of Chandrakeshari Bajracharya near Ghattekulo Chowk in Kathmandu, Sabin Niraula's room in Ghatthaghar, Bhaktapur, and Sanumaya Chitrakar's room in Dadhikot, Nayabasti, Bhaktapur.

According to DIG Kadayat, a sum of approximately Rs 1.6 million in cash, along with various gold and silver jewelry and religious items valued at around Rs 6.66 million, were stolen from Bajracharya's residence. Likewise, thieves got away with cash, watches, and laptops worth around  Rs 1.07 million from Niraula's room. Similarly, properties worth Rs 9.65 million were stolen from Chitrakar's room.


The District Police Range, Kathmandu stated that the police are searching for those involved in the theft. As the major festivals are approaching, the police have requested everyone to take necessary precautions as thieves will become more active during this time of year.
