Anuradha Koirala, director of Maiti Nepal, handed over the awards. The organizers claimed their initiative will support the government's project of Visit Nepal Year (VNY) 2020.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, Koirala asked all women to have faith on themselves, adding that change in the society would only come from change within the individual.
"Women are not weak by themselves, they are forced to become weak," she said, "Every individual has their own capacities to build up themselves as successful persons. That's what a woman needs to do."
She further said that to stand equal as males, women need to support each other by embracing a culture of appreciation. "We are weak because we do not appreciate ourselves. So let's first learn to appreciate each other," she added.
