OKHALDHUNGA, Feb 13: Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel has vowed to increase the allowance of senior citizens to Rs 5,000 per month. DPM Pokhrel made the remarks while addressing his party gathering organized at Chishankhugadhi in Okhaldhunga on Saturday.
Pokharel said that the increase in the allowance of senior citizens would be ensured as per the promise made before people during the last election. He, however, said that a section within the party did not like this plan to be implemented in the last fiscal year.
Pokharel argued that the government decided to seek a fresh mandate of the people as it was cornered and barred from working smoothly. He reiterated that the government is committed to work for the development and prosperity of people.

On the occasion, Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Mani Thapa said that the problems of drinking water would be solved gradually in the hilly districts including Okhaldhunga. He also asserted that development was gaining pace under the leadership of PM Oli and those protesting against the present government were trying to hinder the development.
Chief Minister at Province-1 Sherdhan Rai termed the Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP a private company. He also accused the faction of polluting country politics, forcing the government to go for a fresh poll. Those dubbing the PM's move unconstitutional were themselves acting against rule, he charged.
