Along with Rabi Lamichhane's citizenship dispute, the issue of passport also came to the surface of discussion. During the debate in SC on the citizenship case, the issue of passports was also widely raised.

The issue was raised that Lamichhane had obtained a Nepali passport on the basis of his old Nepali citizenship, even though he was carrying an American passport. The Supreme Court has mentioned that there is no need to mention more about the issue of passport. "Regarding the provisions related to obtaining a passport or travel permit by giving false information, it has been found that there is a matter that should be reported according to the prevailing law and the fact that the matter of the passport is being investigated from the responses of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the District Administration Office of Kathmandu has also been revealed," it is written in the judgment,  "In the context of Rabi Lamichhane's election as a member of the House of Representatives, it was seen that his citizenship qualification was related and the passport issue was not related to the candidate's qualification during the election, there is no need to further mention the fact that he got a Nepali passport in 2015 B.S.”
