KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Spokesperson Gyanendra Shahi has said that President Bidya Devi Bhandari should apologize to the doctor, who was assaulted by police personnel on duty to her escort on Friday.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Shahi demanded action against police personnel involved in beating the doctor. “Honorable President Bidya Devi Bhandari was returning from the parliament after addressing the joint house of the Federal Parliament at Baneshwar and a trauma center doctor was beaten up by the security personnel for walking on the road during presidential escort. Beating up a reputed doctor is an extremely reprehensible act,” he wrote.

"Respect should be given to the honorable president but what is the meaning of the respect given to the people? It is important to end the presumption that we are all-powerful. I strongly condemn and condemn the beating and insulting of the doctor. Also, I sincerely request the honorable president to apologize to the doctor in this matter," he further wrote.
While President Bidya Devi Bhandari was returning from addressing both Houses of the Federal Parliament on Friday, the National Trauma Center doctor Dr Janit Singh was injured and suffered a serious head injury when he was beaten up with a stick by the security personnel of the president.
Injured Dr Singh is considered to be the best Musculoskeletal Oncosurgeon in Nepal. After the senior doctor was beaten up with a stick, the doctors and medical staff of the trauma center and the nearby Bir Hospital immediately protested by stopping the services. The incident occurred when Dr Singh used the road in front of Bir Hospital as President Bhandari was returning to Sheetal Niwas in the evening.
