KAILALI, Aug 27: A pedestrian died after being hit by a crane in Kailali on Monday night. The crane (Province-2-03-001 Ka 2027) was heading from east to west on the East-West Highway when it struck 42-year-old Kiran Prasad Sharma of Lamkichuha Municipality-4 at Ballia.

According to the Kailali District Police Office, the injured Sharma was taken to Lal Ratna Hospital in Lamki for treatment and was then referred to Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital, where he died.
Following the accident, 25-year-old Suraj Chaudhary of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-19, the driver of the crane, has been detained by the police.
