Parliamentary panel directs govt to implement its recommendations on Tanahun and Rahuganga hydro projects

KATHMANDU, August 24: The Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee under the House of Representatives has directed the government agencies concerned to immediately implement the recommendations made by the on-site monitoring report of Tanahun Hydropower Project and Rahuganga Hydropower Project.

KATHMANDU, August 24: The Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee under the House of Representatives has directed the government agencies concerned to immediately implement the recommendations made by the on-site monitoring report of Tanahun Hydropower Project and Rahuganga Hydropower Project.


Purna Kumari Subedi, Chairperson of the Committee, gave this instruction after the discussion held by the parliamentary committee with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the Ministry of Energy regarding the Tanahun Hydroelectric Project and the Rahuganga Hydroelectric Project.

Subedi instructed the inter-ministerial committee to immediately solve the problems and suggestions given in the report by the committee of both projects. The committee has given instructions to the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Forest and Ministry of Energy under the Inter-Ministerial Ministry to solve the problem by informing them about the problems of both the projects.


She said, "The committee instructs the relevant inter-ministries to implement the matters included in the findings and suggestions of the on-site monitoring report of Tanahun Hydropower Project and Rahuganga Hydropower Project as soon as possible. The Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Energy are also instructed to solve the problems by giving information about the problems of Tanahun Hydropower Project and Rahuganga Hydropower Project. It is hoped that the ministries related to the project will cooperate in the implementation of the instructions given by the committee in the coming days.”


Chairperson Subedi said that she is optimistic that all the ministries would follow the instructions given by the committee and support the committee.
