KATHMANDU, Nov 26 : The Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) has announced the results of the 34th nurse registration (license) examination. Over 80 percent of nurses have failed the exams. The results of the licensure examination for Staff Nurse (PCL Nursing) held on Saturday have raised a question mark on the quality of nursing education.

According to Sakuntala Prajapati, spokesperson for the examination committee, out of a total of 1,270 participants for PCL Nursing, only 246 participants, or just around 19.34 percent, have passed the exam.

Similarly, more than half have failed in the licensure examination for BSc Nursing which was conducted on Saturday itself. Out of the total 414 participants in B.Sc Nursing, 203 participants, (49.03) percent have passed.

Prajapati said, “Those who could not pass the exam from the beginning have participated, so the current result of PCL Nursing license exam is weak.”

Similarly, Prajapati added that the exam results were not satisfying because the students who had already failed in BSc Nursing also participated.

The 34th name registration examination was conducted on Saturday from 9 AM to 11:30 AM at the Nepal Army Institute of Health Sciences (NAIHS), Sanobharyang and Bagmati College, Sukedhara.
