KATHMANDU, Oct 6: The auction of domestic players for the upcoming Nepal Premier League franchise cricket league took place on Sunday, whereby 17 of the 27 players in the highest category (Category A) were sold in the first round. Of the 17 category A players sold in the first round, 13 were sold at the maximum price limit of Rs 1.5 million.
In the auction, wicketkeeper batsman Anil Sah attracted most bids as all eight teams attempted to acquire his services for the maximum limit of Rs 1.5 million. In such an instance, a team is drawn from the pot of highest bidder. Sah was drawn to Janakpur Bolts. Similarly, heavy-hitting allrounder Gulshan Jha was drawn to Karnali Yaks following bids from all the teams except for Lumbini Lions.

As of 8 pm on Sunday, the Biratnagar Kings acquired two players from category A, four from category B and two from category C, spending Rs 5.45 million; Chitwan Rhinos acquired one from category A, four from category B, and three from category C, spending Rs 4.3 million; Janakpur Bolts acquired two from category A, one from category B, and three from category C, spending Rs 4.925 million; Karnali Yaks acquired three from category A, four from category B, and three from category C, spending Rs 7.4 million; Kathmandu Gurkhas acquired two from category A, three from category B, and three from category C, spending Rs 5.55 million; Lumbini Lions acquired three from category A, three from category B, and two from category C, spending Rs 7.775 million; Pokhara Avengers acquired two from category A, three from category B, and three from category C, spending Rs 6.55 million; and Sudurpaschim Royals acquired two from category A, three from category B, and three from category C, spending Rs 5.9 million.
