New Indian Ambassador to Nepal presents credentials to President

KATHMANDU, March 26: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri presented his credentials to the President Bidya Devi Bhandari at a ceremony held at President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, March 26: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri presented his credentials to the President Bidya Devi Bhandari at a ceremony held at President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, on Sunday.

Puri arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday. Ambassador Puri is the 24th Ambassador of India to Nepal. India on March 1 named Puri as its new ambassador to Nepal. Puri is succeeding Ranjit Rae, whose term as envoy to Nepal ended by the end of February.


Puri was Ambassador to European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg before he was named for Nepal. Born in 1959, Ambassador Puri joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1982. Prior to his diplomatic assignment in Brussels, he was Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the UN in New York from 2009 to 2013.
