KATHMANDU, May 28: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mahendra Rai Yadav has claimed that Nepal will become self-reliant in agriculture within a year.
Speaking at a program on 'Self-Reliance and Issues of Small Farmers' organized by the Association of Nepali Agricultural Journalists (ANAJ), Minister Yadav emphasized on agriculture in the policy and program of the coming fiscal year 2022/23 brought by the government and mentioned that Nepal will be self-sufficient in agriculture within a year.
What is missing in budget for agriculture?
Minister Yadav said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year would make significant contributions in the field of agriculture, manufacturing and export. Stating that agriculture is the backbone of Nepal, he said that the main challenge at present is how to make agriculture self-reliant. He also said that there is a shortage of manpower in Nepal.
Similarly, he said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year would be allocated for the construction of one storage house in each province and small warehouses in each village.
