Nepal exports noodles and pasta worth Rs 2 billion in 11 months of current FY

KATHMANDU, July 5: Nepal has exported noodles and pasta worth more than Rs 2 billion during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year.

KATHMANDU, July 5: Nepal has exported noodles and pasta worth more than Rs 2 billion during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year.


According to the Department of Customs, Nepal exported 723,445 kg of noodles and pasta worth Rs 2.11 billion till mid-June of the current financial year.

Nepal had exported noodles worth Rs 1.66 billion during the same period last year. Compared to last year, the export of pasta and noodles has increased by 26.9 percent in the 11 months of the current fiscal year, according to the data of the Department of Customs.


Pasta and noodles of Nepal are being exported especially to India. Nepal has exported 5,127,000 kg of noodles and pasta worth Rs 965 million to India alone. After India, Nepal exported 69,000 kg of noodles and pasta worth Rs 509 million to China.


Apart from that, there is a high demand for Nepalis noodles and pasta in third countries including Australia and America.


During the review period, 620,000 kg of noodles and pasta worth Rs 185.9 million was exported to America. Similarly, within 11 months of the current fiscal year, Nepal exported noodles and pasta worth Rs 3.9 million to Bhutan, Rs 141 million to Canada, Rs 3.3 million to Hong Kong, Rs 296 million to Italy.


Similarly, Nepal exported noodles and pasta to Japan worth Rs 82.5 million, South Korea worth Rs 4.3 million, Malaysia worth Rs 2.73 million, Malta worth Rs 10 million, Qatar worth Rs 9.9 million , Singapore worth Rs 3.3 million, the UAE worth Rs 13.5 million,  the UK worth Rs 2.98 million and pasta and noodles worth Rs 7.1 million to Yemen.
