KATHMANDU, Oct 19: The National Examination Board (NEB) has started preparations to complete secondary education through a single registration. The board is preparing to implement the plan from the current academic session. After the registration of the students in grade 9, the registration of final education of the school level will be maintained till grade 12.

According to Chairman of NEB, Dr Mahashram Sharma, students have to fill the registration form twice at the secondary level, in grade 9 and in grade 11, which has added a double financial burden to the students. The registration fee, too, has to be paid twice for the same level of school education. Now after registration in grade 9, the board said that SEE, grade 11 and 12 students will be completed with the same registration number.

Chairman Sharma said, “The board has formed a technical committee. All the technical issues are being settled.” Moreover, he said that the registration number is associated with the name of the student's district, province, municipality, and school, so the board is working to make it shorter.

In the past, grades 11 and 12 were managed by the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB). At present, the constitution itself has established the system of basic level from infant to 8th grade and the secondary level from 9th to 12th grade. He said that since the school structure only works on two levels, the board has proceeded accordingly.

Not only this, the code number of the schools participating in SEE has caused a lot of confusion, so the board is preparing to maintain uniformity in the codes of the schools participating in the examination. Sharma stated, “The code number maintained by the Center for Education and Human Resource Development of the same school and the one maintained by the Board are different. This created a problem in identifying the school.”

Also, the board is preparing to digitize the historical documents of the data since 1990 BS, the period when SLC started in Nepal. Since the beginning of SEE, the board has started to manage the facts online. “This year, all documents will be managed online," he said. Also, the board has moved forward to conduct all the work of class 11 and 12 educational certificates online. It will be completed in the current financial year. According to him, the registration number will be long, so the board is working to make it shorter.
