KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota on Thursday came down heavily on the media alleging them for portraying the government wrongly by disseminating misleading information.

Talking to journalists during a press briefing organized at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on cabinet decisions, Minister Baskota lashed out at the media by accusing them of twisting the truth.

“Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in his speech on the occasion of Asia Pacific Summit 2018 held recently in the capital, preached our civilization, especially Asian civilization, the importance of oriental philosophy and a unique model of peace process Nepal presented in the international community but the media unfortunately wrote the otherwise twisting the truth,” blamed Minister Baskota, asking, “What is the intention behind all this by attacking the government?”

Baskota went on to say that this is nothing more than a form of sadism the media outlets are practicing by portraying others in a misleading manner ruthlessly.

In response to the question regarding the slogan related to Nirmala case, ‘The Government Found Yet Justice Denied’, Baskota asserted that the government has been rendering efforts to find the culprit involved in the murder and rape case of Nirmala.

“It takes time but the government will leave no stone unturned to bring the culprit involved in the Nirmala case to book. But the media are portraying the government as if it is itself inciting violence by protecting the culprit,’ complained Baskota.
