Leopards spotted in Kalikot district

KALIKOT,  Dec 19: Leopards which are endangered and on the verge of extinction have been spotted in different places of Kalikot district. The leopards which were becoming rare due to poaching and lack of suitable habitats, are being spotted in small numbers in the forests of Kalikot.

KALIKOT,  Dec 19: Leopards which are endangered and on the verge of extinction have been spotted in different places of Kalikot district. The leopards which were becoming rare due to poaching and lack of suitable habitats, are being spotted in small numbers in the forests of Kalikot.  


The villagers have reported  that with extreme cold in the forests, the leopards are spotted in the villages of  Kalikot.

On Friday evening at 6:15 PM, a leopard was spotted in Kotkharaka of Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality-2 in the Karnali Corridor. 


Harimani Simkhada, the principal of Danphe Secondary School, said he had spotted a leopard at Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality-9 while traveling in the Karnali corridor in a vehicle.


In the past, leopards would create fear among the villagers by attacking their livestock kept in the sheds, however, there were no such attacks over the past 15/20 years. Now again, leopards are being spotted at a few places in Kalikot district.
