KATHMANDU, OCT 17: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has warned to take stern action against the businesses that have been running without renewing their licenses.
Citing a large number of such businesses being run without taking the approval of the government authorities, the KMC through a public notice on Tuesday cautioned such businesses. The metropolis has given a 30-day ultimatum to these businesses to receive the government approval.

“If any business operates without registering with the government authorities, they will be closed and slapped with a cash penalty according to the law,” reads the KMC notice. In the market inspection carried out by a number of market regulators, a large number of retail stores were found breaching the rule to register themselves with the government authorities.
After Mayor Balendra Shah took office, the KMC started removing footpath businesses. Likewise, the metropolis has also evacuated the area meant for underground parking in business complexes.
