Hikmat Karki stakes claim to Koshi’s chief ministership

BIRATNAGAR, May 9: UML Parliamentary Party Leader Hikmat Kumar Karki has submitted his claim to be the chief minister of Koshi Province.

BIRATNAGAR, May 9: UML Parliamentary Party Leader Hikmat Kumar Karki has submitted his claim to be the chief minister of Koshi Province.


Karki submitted the claim with the support of 52 MPs from the UML and Maoist Center as soon as the provincial chief Parshuram Khapung called for the formation of a new government according to Article 168, Clause 5 of the Constitution.

Chief Minister Kedar Karki, who is leading the caretaker government, said that he would challenge the decision to form a new government at the Supreme Court.
