Tourism department gives five-day ultimatum to three casinos to pay arrears

KATHMANDU, March 25: The Department of Tourism (DoT) has given an ultimatum of five days to three casinos that have not paid their arrears to the government. The DoT has given an ultimatum to the three casinos to pay their dues of Rs 900.5 million within five days.

KATHMANDU, March 25: The Department of Tourism (DoT) has given an ultimatum of five days to three casinos that have not paid their arrears to the government. The DoT has given an ultimatum to the three casinos to pay their dues of Rs 900.5 million within five days.  


Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale gave the ultimatum to the three casino companies on Wednesday to recover the dues, said Khemraj Joshi, Hotel and Casino Supervisor of the DoT.

As per the notice published by the department, Rock International Pvt Ltd of Kathmandu owes as much as Rs 300.3 million, Happy Hour of Kathmandu Rs 300.1 million while Oriental Hotels (Radisson Hotel) of Lazimpat owes Rs 300 million to the government. 


The department has warned of legal action if the arrears are not paid within the next five days. According to the department, as many as 17 such companies have paid Rs 870 million in royalties to the government so far.
