KATHMANDU, July 30: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case at the Special Court against Raju Puri, a survey official at the Survey Office, Chabahil, on the charge of illegal wealth acquisition. The CIAA has said that the source of Puri’s property worth Rs 14.3 million has not been disclosed.
According to the CIAA, Puri, who joined the government service on December 24, 1995, has collected assets worth Rs 22.4 million while his legitimate income is only Rs 12 million. That is why he has illegally earned Rs 14.3 million, said CIAA Spokesperson Bhola Dahal.

“As it has been confirmed that Raju Puri has misused his official position to acquire illegal wealth while maintaining a public service position, he has been charged under Sub-section (1) of Section 20 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS”, according to a statement issued by the CIAA.
The CIAA has demanded the recovery of illegal property of Rs 14.3 million. Furthermore, the CIAA has demanded that the illegal wealth which has been kept in the name of his wife, Sirjana Giri, be confiscated.
