Century Bank wins corporate cricket

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: Century Bank won the title of the Third Century Bank Corporate Super Sixes 2016 cricket tournament on Sunday. Century Bank overcame Nepal SBI Bank by six wickets in the final played at the TU ground, Kirtipur.

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: Century Bank won the title of the Third Century Bank Corporate Super Sixes 2016 cricket tournament on Sunday. Century Bank overcame Nepal SBI Bank by six wickets in the final played at the TU ground, Kirtipur.



Electing to bat first, Nepal SBI Bank made 55/2 in the match played for five-over per side. Monish Shah contributed unbeaten 36 runs off 10 deliveries for Nepal SBI before he retired. Sumit Adhikari scored 13 runs. 



In the run chase, the man-of-the-match Diwesh Dangol cracked unbeaten 34 runs off 10 balls as Century Bank surpassed the target in 3.5 overs scoring 58 runs. Subash Sharma scored 18 runs off five deliveries. 



Century Bank was rewarded with the winner's trophy and also got free of cost entry for the next edition of the tournament. Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Shankhar Bhandari and Rajesh Shrestha, the chairman of Century Bank among others distributed prizes to the winners.



Suraj Timilsina of Century Bank won the man-of-the-series award. He was feted with a LED television, trophy and Rs 10,000. Arbind Rana of ICFC Finance, Raj Shrestha of Civil Bank, Sakar Shrestha of Nepal SBI Bank were declared the best batsman, bowler and wicket keeper respectively. Similarly, Suraj Timalsian of Century Bank and Arbind Rana of ICFC Finance won the award for best fielder and highest sixes scoring player of the tournament. All the individual award winners were rewarded with a trophy and gift hampers. 



Earlier, in the semifinal played on the same day, Nepal SBI Bank had overcame ICFC Finance by 15 runs and Century Bank edged past Civil Bank by four wickets.



Monish Shrestha and Sakar Shrestha contributed equal 29 runs for Nepal SBI Bank in its big total of 83/2. In the run chase, ICFC was restricted at 68/5 at close.



Similarly, the other semifinal saw Century Bank reach the target of 84 runs set by Civil Bank.



Diwes Dangol and Vishnu Tiwari scored unbeaten 33 runs and 27 runs respectively for Century Bank.
