Buddha Harmony Foundation Awards Honor talent

KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Buddha Harmony Foundation has conferred the ‘Buddha Harmony Bimala Regmi Social Service Award 2017’ to seven professionals of Nepal on Saturday amid an event held in Kathmandu. The award carries a purse of Rs 10,000 each and a letter of felicitation.

KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Buddha Harmony Foundation has conferred the ‘Buddha Harmony Bimala Regmi Social Service Award 2017’ to seven professionals of Nepal on Saturday amid an event held in Kathmandu. The award carries a purse of Rs 10,000 each and a letter of felicitation. 


According to the press statement released by the Foundation, every year the award is conferred to distinguished individuals who have contributed tremendously to the field of social works.

It added that among the awardees were five differently-abled extraordinary talents of Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association (NSCISA), namely Gayatri Dahal, president of NSCISA and a literary writer as well as social-worker  bound to wheel-chair since the age of 13 due to a spinal injury,  Sonika Dhakal and Laxmi Kunwar - champion swimmers of Nepal who also participated in the Paralympics in Brazil, Nwang Chhiri Sherpa, a Thanka painter and art teacher, and Ram Bahadur Tamang, who set the national record of 365 km wheelchair race from Namo Buddha to Lumbini. 


The two other awardees were the senior nurses of Kathmandu University Dhulikhel Hospital- Bishnu Singh Ghartee and Ruthmani Sandhyang, originally from Darjeeling. The duo had started their careers from the Mission Hospital of Palpa and has dedicated their life in nursing.  


Also on the occasion, as many as 30 sufferers of spinal injury and wheelchair-bound players, who had participated and won in the SAARC level wheelchair basketball tournament from November 12-17, were honored with the ‘Buddha Shanti Samman 2017’.
