BARA, March 26: Bara police arrested a ward chairman of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan on Friday. Ward Chairman of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolis Ward 14 Surendra Jaiswal has been arrested in a banking offense case, according to Bara Police.
Bara Police Spokesperson Rajesh Thapa said that Ward Chairman Jaiswal had paid Rs 3.8 million from three checks of Siddhartha Bank worth Rs 2 million, Rs 1 million and Rs 800,000, but the victims didn’t receive any money. Jaiswal was arrested after the victims filed a case and police conducted necessary investigation.

Thapa said that the investigation has been started by extending Jaiswal’s remand by five days from the Birgunj bench of the Janakpur High Court to further investigate the incident.
The arrested Jaiswal was elected as the ward chairperson from the CPN-UML.
