Voting in Madhesh Province ends, vote counting to begin shortly

JANAKPURDHAM, Jan 25: Voting in Madhesh Province for the National Assembly member election has been completed. Voting was held on Thursday for two posts of members of the National Assembly from Madhesh province.

JANAKPURDHAM, Jan 25: Voting in Madhesh Province for the National Assembly member election has been completed. Voting was held on Thursday for two posts of members of the National Assembly from Madhesh province.


According to Election Officer Kailash Prasad Bhattarai, 267 people from the local level including the mayors, deputy mayors, rural municipality chairpersons and vice chairpersons and 106 from the provincial assembly members participated in the voting.

The time for voting was fixed at Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Culture Center in Janakpurdham from 9 AM to 3 PM.


Five representatives from different municipalities of the province were prosecuted because their names were not included in the voter list. Similarly, Abhiram Sharma, a member of the province assembly elected from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, is absconding on the charge of murder.


Anand Dhungana from the ruling coalition, Bijeta Jha of UML and Ramashankar Mahaseth of the Janamat Party are candidates for one of the two vacant seats in the province. From women, Pooja Chaudhary of the ruling coalition and Ushadevi Tharuni of UML have been nominated for another one seat.
