Be it choosing clothes or things required for home, Dashain shopping is very much anticipated. Discounts are also more common during the festive season. Meanwhile, the ever-growing malls and supermarkets compete with one another by introducing various schemes, providing consumers with a plethora of shopping options. 


Schemes at malls 

Dashain activities provide relief from the hectic everyday lifestyle. Malls and supermarkets around the Valley have introduced various shopping schemes to attract customers during the season. They offer additional discounts. Some of the popular malls and supermarkets including Labim Mall – Pulchowk, Civil Mall – Sundhara, BG Mall – Balaju, KL Tower – Chabahil, Vishwajyoti Mall -- Jamal and various outlets of Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket and Departmental Store are providing various discounts and offers. 


According to Samratnath Yogi, assistant marketing manager at Labim Mall, one can get a lucky draw coupon after purchasing any item worth Rs 1,000 or more. He added, “The winners will be chosen through lucky draw after Chhath Puja. We will inform about the bumper prize on our facebook page.” There are 96 different stores in Labim Mall that are currently offering discounts on purchases.

Explaining why it’s more preferable to shop in malls, Hira Mani Timalsina, marketing manager at BG Mall, KL Tower, and Vishwajyoti Mall, shared, “When you shop at malls, you can find everything you are looking for under the same roof. You will get parking space. If you feel hungry in the middle of your shopping, then you can just relax and eat at the food court at the malls. Finally, you can experience a good time shopping with your entire family.”


There are daily, weekly and bumper prizes at malls. About the available schemes, Timalsina informed, “We have discounts from 20 percent up to 25 percent at every store in these three malls. We also have daily, weekly and bumper offer at BG Mall, Vishwajyoti Mall, and KL Tower. Every customer who purchases items above Rs 1000 will get a lucky draw coupon. It will be entered in our lucky draw system. The winners will get various gift hampers.” There are around 60 stores at BG Mall, 35 at Vishwajyoti Mall and 50 at KL Tower.


Additional offers

In addition to discounts and prizes, Civil Mall, one of the busiest malls of Kathmandu, conducted ‘Bal Sansar Talent Hunt’. The event, which marked the start of the festive season, started from September 29.  


According to Amir Thakuri, marketing manager at Civil Mall, children between 4 to 12 years participated in the competition. They got a platform to showcase their singing, dancing and acting skills. The winners received cash prizes of 50,000, 30,000 and 20,000. Like every mall in the city, Civil Mall also has the lucky draw scheme for every purchase over Rs 1000. 


There are 200 stores in the Civil Mall. You can walk in expecting a discount of up to 40 percent during the festive season.


Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket outlets

Dashain shopping is not limited to clothes, gadgets and electronic appliances. Grocery shopping is equally important, if not more. What better option than Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket to have it all covered under one roof, that too with the luxury of finding parking space for your vehicle.


Explaining the offers at Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket outlets across the country, Sabin Byanjankar, branch manager of Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket, Tripureshwar said, “We are offering five percent discount on clothing items, up to 30 percent on electronics and we are selling groceries at affordable prices. Like previous years, the store is planning to conduct a lucky draw contest. Registration of the coupons starts from October 16 and ends on November 13. We will choose a lucky winner after Chhath Puja by organizing a program.” 


When asked why one should visit Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket, he replied, “Customers can find everything under the same roof at an affordable price. We are noticing the change in the flow of people in the market. With the arrival of the festive season, the footfall of the customers has increased by 30 percent in all outlets.”
