SINDHUPALCHOWK, Aug 14: Five bodies were recovered from a landslide-hit Lidi village of Jugal Rural Municipality-2, in Sindhupalchowk.
The rain-triggered landslide that occurred on Friday morning has put scores of families in the area at risk. Vice-chairperson of Jugal Rural Municipality, Srijana Tamang said that at least 13 houses were completely damaged and 15 people were injured in the landslide.
19 dead bodies recovered from Lidi Landslide so far
Five of the injured were airlifted to Chautara, the district headquarters, on a Nepal Army helicopter. Ten people were rescued from the incident site.
The whereabouts of those living in five houses is still unknown. Some 34 people have gone missing in the landslide.
Squads of Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been mobilized to carry out rescue operations in the landslide-hit area.
