UNODC calls for humane prison conditions

KATHMAN DU, July 18: The UN Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) has called for a humane prison condition on the occasion of Nelson Mandela International Day.

 KATHMAN DU, July 18: The UN Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) has called for a humane prison condition on the occasion of Nelson Mandela International Day.


Issuing a press release, UNODC’s Executive Director Yuri Fedetov has called for the conditions of humane prison as lot of prison across the world are in crisis.

In the statement, UNODC has drew attentions to all the concerned bodies over the inadequate and overcrowded prisons’ and the health risks, violence, high rates of recidivism, emerging threats, violent extremism in prisoners facing in the prisons.


UNODC has said that they are responsible for providing technical assistance and advisory services to Member States in the field of penal reform.
