UML Chief Whip calls for reduction in employee quotas at PM’s Secretariat

KATHMANDU, June 23: CPN-UML Chief Whip Padam Giri has raised concerns over the excessive employee quotas at the Prime Minister's Secretariat, urging for a more efficient utilization of resources.


During today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Giri presented a proposal to reduce the budget expenditure allocated to various sections under the Appropriation Bill 2080. He emphasized that the current quota of 79 employees at the PM Secretariat was unnecessary and inefficiently managed.

Giri also highlighted the lack of targeted tourism programs in the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. He urged the government to consider the potential financial losses that could arise from constructing new airports without adequate preparation.


Additionally, Arjun Narsing KC from the Nepali Congress (NC) stressed the importance of addressing the public's concerns through the budget. KC called upon the Prime Minister to tackle the existing issues faced by the country. 


In light of the increasing corruption cases, KC further demanded the formation of a high-level probe commission led by judges from the Supreme Court to investigate well-known corruption cases.
