Two killed when excavator without number plate hits motorcycle

The driver of the excavator has been at large since the accident. Inspector Basnet informed Republica that the driver is an Indian national and does not have a driving license. It has been revealed that the excavator belongs to Pramod Yadav of Siraha, Hakpada.

SIRAHA, Feb 1: Two persons died when a JCB excavator without a number plate crashed into a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction in Siraha on Thursday evening.


The excavator en route to Choharba from Siraha did not just kill the driver of the motorcycle (Sa 7 Pa 8748) but also the pillion rider.

The accident occurred at Siraha-11, Padampur.  The deceased have been identified as motorcyclist Birendra Pandit, 35, and Dorik Saday, 28, of Siraha-11, according to Police Inspector at District Traffic Police Office (DTPO) Milan Singh Basnet.

 As per the law, no vehicle can ply a road without a number plate. When asked how did an excavator without a number plate was operating on the road despite the presence of traffic? Inspector Basnet replied, "I know it is against the law. We will try our best to find the reason."
