KATHMANDU, April 18: Minister for Home Affairs, Ram Bahadur Thapa, who lost his ministerial post after the CPN (Maoist Center) relieved him from the post of party’s lawmaker, is taking the oath of office and secrecy again as the home minister later today.

Prime Minister Oli recommended his reappointment as the home minister after he lost his ministerial position following the decision of his mother party, the Maoist Center, to relieve him from the post of National Assembly member on Sunday. According to a press statement issued by the Office of the President, President  Bidya Devi Bhandari  appointed Thapa as the home minister as per Article 78 of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015.

Prime Minister Oli’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa said the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 5PM at Shital Niwas. Prime Minister Oli had earlier reappointed three ministers belonging to the Maoist Center after their mother party scrapped their membership as lawmaker as part of a disciplinary action.

All these ministers decided to be part of the Oli-led CPN-UML when the intraparty rift between Oli and Dahal reached its peak before the Supreme Court invalidated the unification between the UML and Maoist Center to form the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
