Scientists' conference begins in Pokhara

Pokhara, Oct 19: A four-day conference of scientists has begun in Pokhara on Monday. The conference is aimed at sharing experiences of scientists from around the world.

Pokhara, Oct 19: A four-day conference of scientists has begun in Pokhara on Monday. The conference is aimed at sharing experiences of scientists from around the world. 


A total of 180 scientists from 16 countries have arrived in the tourist city to share their latest initiative, findings and experiences on new technologies related to drugs and other substances.

Scientists from various countries including Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Germany, France and Italy are taking part in the conference, the organizers, Central Department of Chemistry (CDC) at the Tribhuvan University, said.


Nepal has been hosting scientists' conference in every two year, Rameshwar Adhikari, coordinator of the organizing committee and chief of CDC, informed. 


Adhikari said that the conference provides a platform for scientists to share their findings on various subjects like chemistry, drugs, among others. This is the first time the seminar is being organized in Pokhara. Adhikari shared that they have plans to organize a similar gathering in Kathmandu for the third time. 


“Our students will have an opportunity to learn from these experts who have immense knowledge in their respective fields. It will also provide a platform for the participants to share their studies with each other,” said Adhikari.


On Tuesday, scientists from Nepal presented paper on the use of traditional Ayurvedic medicines as an alternative to cure various diseases, among other advancements. Adhikari said that the presentation was an opportunity for the foreign scientists to learn and discuss about one of the ancient forms of treatment. Similar events will be organized in Chitwan and Biratnagar also in the days ahead, he added.
