Process to integrate CTEVT, CEHRD curriculums begins

KATHMANDU, March 21: The process to integrate the curriculum developed by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD) has started in a bid to assimilate curriculums in technical education system under the Ministry of Education.

KATHMANDU, March 21: The process to integrate the curriculum developed by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD) has started in a bid to assimilate curriculums in technical education system under the Ministry of Education. 


There have been complaints that the CTEVT and CEHRD have created and run different curriculums and technical programs for the same educational institution. Community schools have incorporated the curriculum recommended by the CEHRD in grades 9 to 12 and the same community schools run a three-year diploma program launched by the CTEVT from grade 10. Not only the curriculums but also teachers for the same school have also undergone the same kind of training given separately by the CTEVT and the CEHRD.

CTEVT technical programs have been run in 484 community schools (from grades 9 to 12) and its diploma programs in more than 550 secondary schools. 


To integrate and update the curriculums, a committee has been formed under the leadership of Prof Dr Rajendra Prasad Adhikari, chair of the management board of the Training Institute for Technical Instruction (TITI) following consultation with office-bearers of the authorities concerned including Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Debendra Paudel. 


Other members of the committee are the member-secretary of the CTEVT, the Director General of the CEHRD, and member-secretary of the National Examinations Board. 


The committee has been tasked with submitting a report within 30 days after preparing an integrated curriculum after carrying out a detailed study of technical education in community secondary schools (from grades 9 to 12) and pre-diploma and diploma courses being run in educational institutions under the technical and vocational training.
