KATHMANDU, July 6: The CPN (Maoist Center) has said its serious attention has been drawn toward the 'misinterpretation' of the statement about Sardar Pritam Singh made by party Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

The CPN (Maoist Center) is concerned over the propaganda by the opposition about the Prime Minister's statement on Sardar Pritam Singh, the party said in a press statement today.

"It is just an attempt to fulfill the partisan interest by trying to misinterpret the statement given by the Prime Minister with a very good intention," the party said, expressing its concern over the obstruction in parliament, the platform for exercising and promoting democracy,  over the matter.

"It has been already known that PM Dahal and Sardar Singh have developed a mutual emotional bonding over the course of time from the people's war to the peace process," the party’s Vice Chair and Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said in the statement. Given this backdrop, it is not unusual for Singh to wish to see Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the Prime Minister and to promote him in his political career, according to Mahara.

"It is merely an attempt to fish in troubled waters," the party said, urging the party hierarchy and the masses to stand in favor of nationality, republic and for the cause of the people.

Meanwhile, the PM's private secretariat said that the statements relating to Sardar Pritam Singh made by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at an event in Kathmandu on July 3 were misinterpreted.

“There were efforts to fulfill political interests taking advantage of the remarks, and the matter had drawn 'serious' attention of the secretariat,” according to a statement issued by PM Dahal's Press Advisor Govinda Acharya.

The secretariat has accused major opposition parties of obstructing parliament in the name of the said statements attributed to the PM. As a result of the obstruction in parliament, the ordinance to bring the bill to criminalize the usury practice has been annulled depriving the victims of justice, reads the statement. "We would like to offer deep sorrow over the annulment of the ordinance, and are committed to take necessary initiatives in favor of the victims of loan sharking."
