PARBAT, April 27: A seismometer has been installed for the first time in Parbat district. The device has been installed at the Parbat Gurukul Academy at Kushma, the district headquarters.
The seismometer has been installed under the University of Lausanne, Switzerland's campaign of installing the instruments in 23 various schools of Nepal. The seismometer can measure tremors measuring more than one magnitude.
Dengue cases on the rise in Parbat
A Nepali scientist, Shiva Subedi who is pursuing PhD studies in seismology at the University of Lausanne, has been facilitating in the installation of 23 seismometers in Nepal. The university is implementing this project in collaboration with various countries.
Subedi said the seismometers have been set up at schools so that it would be convenient especially for the students to learn and know about earthquake. According to him, it costs more than Rs 100,000 to install a seismometer.
