Nirmala rape-murder accused Dilip, Bam sisters released

MAHENDRA, Sept 11: Kanchapur Police has released Dilip Bista, an accused of the Nirmala rape-murder case on general date on Tuesday.


Former Kanchanpur District Police Chief, who is now suspended, Dilli Raj Bista had framed mentally deranged Dilip as the main accused of the rape-murder case.


Government prosecutor’s office today released Dilip Bista citing lack of sufficient evidences.

Tension had flared up in Kanchanpur after mentally weak man was presented as the main accused of the Nirmala case. As many as 10 people sustained injuries while a man was killed as protestors clashed with police.


Similarly, Roshani Bam and Babita Bam have also been released. According to police, Roshani has been released on general date while Babita on a Rs 30,000-bail.


High Level Investigation Committee, National Human Rights Commission and National Women Commission have been looking into the case.


High Level Investigation Committee member Birendra KC on Monday resigned from his post expressing dissatisfaction over the credibility of the report.


The committee led by joint secretary at the Home Ministry Hari Prasad Mainali is preparing to submit its report.
