KATHMANDU, May 30: Newly-elected mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah (Balen Shah) has taken the oath of office and secrecy today.
Shah took the oath of office and secrecy at a swearing-in ceremony held at the City Hall. Chief Election Officer Raju Kumar Khatiwada administered the oath of office as well as distributed the certificates to Mayor Balen.

After taking the oath in the Nepali language, Shah recited the oath in Nepal Bhasa as well.
The newly-elected mayor, deputy mayor, ward chairpersons and members of KMC are assuming their offices today.
