Newly appointed IGP Shailesh Thapa conferred insignia (with photos)

KATHMANDU, July 9: Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shailesh Thapa Chhetri has been conferred insignia.

KATHMANDU, July 9: Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shailesh Thapa Chhetri has been conferred insignia.


Amid a function held at the Ministry of Home Affairs earlier today, secretary at the ministry, Maheshwor Neupane conferred insignia on the IGP Thapa.

A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday had appointed Thapa as the 28th Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police. He succeeded  Thakur Prasad Gyawaly who retired from the service the same day under the 30-year service limit.


Thapa joined the police force on May 1, 1991, and will take charge of the force for the next 22 months, until May 1, 2022.


Meanwhile, IGP Thapa has also assumed office amid a ceremony at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal.
