Nepathya performed their first ever concert in the Kiwi Island at the Sky City Theatre in Auckland on Friday. According to the press statement released by Nepa-laya, after the concert, the audience thanked the band for bringing the gift of folk taste from Nepal.
The press statement quoted Raj Maharjan of the organizing team saying, "This is the first proper Nepali concert and hence a historic moment for Nepali living here. We have a very small community here and the number of people who came for the show clearly resembles the unifying magic Nepathya carries along."

He said Nepathya’s concert has also opened doors for New Zealand being a new destination for Nepali artists and musicians.
With the Auckland show, Nepathya wraps up their current four-city ANZ tour, which started from Melbourne and moved on to Adelaide and Sydney before concluding here in Auckland.
“Am glad that the first international tour of our 25 year celebration was received well. I want to thank all those who were involved in organizing the shows, our audiences and well-wishers,” said Nepathya’s frontman Amrit Gurung. "We will now head back home to prepare for releasing a new song soon." He revealed.
Estimates say there are approximately 5,000 Nepali living in Auckland. Apart from Auckland, Nepali concentration is also found in Christchurch. However, the first and major connection between Nepali and the Kiwis have been Everest and Sir Edmund Hillary. Recent earthquakes in Nepal and Christchurch have also brought the people of these two countries together through mutual feeling and shared experiences as per the press statement.
Amrit was accompanied on stage by Dhruba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on Keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on guitars and Shanti Rayamajhi on percussion.
The band is due to return to Nepal on Tuesday by Silk Air.
