Speaking at the program, Thakali said that the government was committed to creating an environment conducive for trade and business. “The Nepal Trade Information Portal will easily provide information like legislation, policies, procedures, tariff data and necessary guidelines across trade-related bodies and organizations to the trading community," he added.

Similarly, Rabi Shankar Sainju, joint secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, said that the he was hopeful that the portal would help in generating more trade and investment.

Surendra Nath Gongal, deputy director of Trade and Export Promotion Centre, said the profile of traders and their products would be integrated into the portal in the near future. |

The portal has been launched with the support of the World Bank Group under the Nepal-India Regional Trade and Transport Project. It is expected to help reduce the time that traders spend to search information for their businesses. The portal provides information in both Nepali and English languages.
